Smart Habit Saturday

To wrap up May, I would have to say that I did…average. I usually got about 3 days a week in which wasn’t quite my goal, but it was more than the 0 or 1 day a week I had been doing so I guess that’s an improvement. I didn’t do as well as I hoped as far as my weight while I was on vacation, but I think I only gained a pound or two so that’s not outrageous.

For June, I think I’m going to kind of keep the exercise on my side burner and hopefully it will be the direct beneficiary of my new habit. I have a lot of trouble working out once the day gets going and by the end of the day the last thing I want to do is hop on the treadmill, so I think I am going to try working out first thing in the morning…which means getting up earlier…which means going to bed earlier.

I usually hit my pillow between 11:30pm and midnight and then try to get up at 5:45am with Dave to do an abs tape. We only hit that mark once since we’ve been home but before we left, we were doing it 4 or 5 times during the week. The thing is, I don’t really see a difference in my abs so I’m not sure that’s a good use of my time…I was just doing it to get my blood moving in the morning.

So here’s the plan. I want to have my head hit the pillow by 11pm (earlier if possible) and get up at 5:30 to work out. That’s only 15 minutes earlier than what I had been doing…but I am so not a morning person so 15 minutes might as well be a lifetime. But I read the perfect quote yesterday which will hopefully get me going…and I wasn’t even looking for a quote that would hopefully get me going. Don’t you just love how that happens?

If Joan of Arc could turn the tide of an entire war before her 18th birthday, you can get out of bed.

  1. Wow- that is so early! I sort of a morning person but I need to see light to really wake up. I hope you can do it!

  2. I have to figure out when to exercise now. I was doing it at noon, so by the time I was done, showered, & primped, it was time to get the kids from school. But now w/them home for summer, I have no clue what I’ll do! I could keep that habit while my son is in summer school, but my hubby is back on swing shift now too, so I can’t always get into the bedroom where I workout @ noon. Like today he’s sleeping :(
