Talk About Tuesday

This week for Talk About Tuesday, Lara has us talking about our shoes. Just like I am not a purse person, I am not a shoe person. I pretty much own what I think are the bare essentials. And then when one pair gets a whole in it, I chuck that pair and go buy a pair as close to humanly possible as the pair I just tossed. I will usually go 2 or 3 years before buying shoes.

Here are all my shoes that weren’t purchased for a show or a costume. That means, all these shoes live in my bedroom. The costume shoes are in a box in the basement. We won’t go there.

As you can see, I am all about bright and bold. It’s all about fashion at this house… Right. The oldest pair of shoes I own are the brown mules in the 2nd row at the far end. I’ve had those since…let’s see…1998. I got them for free, and I didn’t realize until I got home that they didn’t match. But I wore them anyway, quite often, until they started to hurt my feet so much that I could hardly walk.

As Lara predicted, I did end up throwing out some shoes once I took a look at everything I had. Notice the brown mules didn’t make the cut. I figured my brown slippers could fill the roll quite nicely when I needed them to.

These are the actual shoes I wear the most often. From left to right, there are my brand spanking new Skechers, my New Balance walking shoes for when I work out. They look pretty new, don’t they? I’ve had them for over a year. Which just goes to show you how much I work out. I wear sandals almost every day in the summer and the black ones are my all purpose church shoes.

And here is where they all live with Dave’s shoes. The red and blue things on top are actually my slipper socks.  I forgot to put them in the original picture, but I wear these a lot in the winter.

The first 2 rows are my shoes and the bottom two are Dave’s shoes.  And the red Converse All-Stars were a gift from when he directed the show Big.  I’ve never seen him where them and I know I never will, but they are too cool to toss.  Oh, the big boots on top are a recent purchase of his.  He went to tour the inside of a nuclear reactor at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant and those were the boots he needed as a safety precaution.

But that’s another post for another day.

  1. I like your shoe organizer.

  2. Way to purge! I am seriously going to to that this fall when I see what I need and don’t need.

  3. Let’s see the costume shoes.

  4. I had an almost identical pair of the Skechers until my daughter puked in one of them and I just couldn’t convince myself to put them on even though I knew they had been cleaned well. They are the most comfy tennis-shoes I have ever owned. I would love to get another pair.

  5. That’s a LOT of shoes!

  6. Great shoes. And great organization.

  7. I’m not a huge shoe person, but I used to have quite a few pairs. Until I got pregnant and my feet grew a size. I now have 2 pairs of shoes I can comfortably wear to work in the winter. The summer I have more, but nothing new. I can’t justify buying myself shoes now - I have 2 kids. :) I too wear only sandals in the summer- unless I need walking sneakers - but that is rare. :)
