Talk About Tuesday
About a month ago, Karen at Pediascribe came up with a fun little project based on something that she had seen at Lara’s site.
Lara had talked about how she recycled note cards by writing her note on a separate piece of paper and then putting the paper inside the note card, that way the recipient was able to use the note card again if they wanted to. Karen took it a step further by making it a perpetual card.
Here’s how it works. Based on Karen’s suggestion, I wanted to make a card that would fit into a standard legal size envelope so the receiver/sender would not be at a loss for an envelope to fit the card.
First, I gathered the papers I wanted to use. It’s hard to tell from the picture, but the big piece is a really pretty sage green.
Next, I measured the big green piece to fit inside a standard envelope. Then I cut up the flower paper for the front. I thought it needed something else so I used some rub-ons to make the word “Friendship”. These are actually all from different words (months of the year, to be exact) that I had left over from another project. I just picked out the letters I would need to make “Friendship”.
I found the verse I wanted to use for the inside and printed that on a separate piece of paper. It says “If instead of a gem or even a flower, we should cast the gift of a loving thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give. -George MacDonald”.
The paper on the top says (stolen directly from Karen) “This is a perpetual greeting card. Simply remove your personal message and write a new message on a clean sheet of paper. Slip your new note into the card and send it on to its next destination. Please add your name and city and state to the back so everyone can see how far this little card has gone!” Then on the back I wrote that once the back of the card is filled to return it to me.
I’m most impressed that I measured right and it actually FITS in the envelope! If you have seen some of my past projects, you can understand why this is a source of excitement, LOL!

I’m pretty excited with the way it turned out! Hopefully it will someday make it back to me, but if not, it’s the thought that counts, right?

Beautiful! I think it is a great idea and hope that lots of people will get lots of joy out of this project.
I love this idea. I don’t write many letters/notes, but this is such a fun creative idea, that I can’t wait to try it myself.
