Back in action

Hello folks!

I’m back after our 4 day weekend in Townsend, Tennessee. Oh my gosh, it was beautiful. After thinking that it was going to rain the entire weekend, it only rained once and that was at about 10pm on Friday night…well after we were done going out for the day.

The kids had a blast meeting their 2nd cousins who were the same age as them. They hit it off right away. Within 10 minutes it was hard to believe that they had just met. Although Jake did run around saying “Hey, kid” until I reminded him that his cousin’s name was Aaron. We had a pretty sizable piece of grass out in front of our cabin so it became the central meeting point. The kids (and adults) played soccer, baseball, frisbee, and by far the most popular outdoor event…Hotbox. Jake was battered and bruised and stained by the end of the weekend but he had so much fun.

The evenings were spent consuming mass amounts of alcohol, eating way too much food, and playing board games. Not too mention sitting out on the huge deck until all hours of the night. It made Dave and I realize that we don’t use the deck at our house nearly enough…

When we weren’t hanging out at the cabin, we were exploring the sights around us. We drove the Cade’s Cove loop one day, we climbed to Laurel Falls the next. We very briefly checked out Gatlinburg and had no choice but to drive through Pigeon Forge…two places that I have no desire to ever go to again. They were way too busy for me. I’m not sure the kids really liked the Nature part of our trip, but I really did and I think Dave did too.

But now I am back to reality. And bills. And laundry. Oh so much laundry…

Be sure to check back on Thursday for pictures!!
