Thursday Thirteen

This past weekend, when my parents took Jake and Emma for a few days, I was able to do several things I just don’t have time for anymore…

  1. Go to the library and actually have time to BROWSE for books. Too bad that all the books I was browsing for were already checked out, so I reserved 7 of the books on my SRT2008 book list.
  2. I was able to find one book, The Kite Runner, which I checked out and took on a date to lunch. I sat in a booth all by lonesome and read and ate and had coffee. It was awesome.
  3. I walked past a sink full of Tuesday nights dinner dishes approximately 137 times.
  4. Went to dinner with Dave at Red Lobster on Wednesday night. Cheddar Bay Biscuits, people!
  5. Dave and I saw Jumper on Wednesday. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t horrible either. But Hayden Christiansen? Yum.
  6. On Thursday, I had lunch with Christine and I got to meet her sister Sue. We had a blast talking about the state of sex education in New Jersey.
  7. After lunch, I went clothes shopping, which I absolutely HATE. I seriously hate shopping. Until I found that Size 12 jeans were too big. Then I liked shopping. I walked out with 4 new shirts and a new pair of SIZE 10 JEANS. But still no new dress for the cruise.
  8. I was so upset about the dress that I still didn’t do Tuesday’s dishes.
  9. Dave and I had dinner on Thursday at BD’s Mongolian Barbecue. Oh my gosh, that place is good.
  10. After dinner, we went to see 27 Dresses. I loved it. And Dave got Brownie Points for being the only guy in the theatre. Which he kept pointing out to me.
  11. On Friday, since the kids were still gone and Dave’s parents were coming in for the weekend, I went to the grocery by myself. Which was pure bliss to do on a weekday.
  12. I finally did Tuesday’s dishes on Friday. I wouldn’t recommend doing that to anyone.
  13. Lastly, we took out a second mortgage on the house to pay for all the eating out and movies that we did over 2 days.

  1. It’s ages since we’ve been to Red Lobster. I love that place!

  2. I love browsing the library and reading– alone! (Doesn’t happen often for me either.)

  3. I’m so jealous… time to yourself? Our closest relatives live on the other coast. =(

Be sure to stop by and get a piece of cake!

    Happy TT!

  4. I’ve never had a Cheddar Bay Biscuit, but I suspect I’d like them very much.

  5. Congratulations on the size 10! that is my goal as well. Those biscuits at Red Lobster are sinful. I worked there in college and I became addicted to them.

  6. Congrats on the smaller size — and the cruise.

Hey, smaller size, a cruise and time away from the kids?! Heck, wanna trade? ;)

I also have another TT — mocking manners ;)

  7. Hurray for some time to yourself - and a size 10! Whoo hoo. I admire your self care - that’s really the most important in raising children.

    Happy TT!

  8. BD’s is one of our favorite places to eat!!
That’s where my ds learned to like Tofu. Of course, he won’t eat it if *I* cook it, only if the BD grill chefs cook it. (sigh)

  9. Sounds like you had a lot of fun. With the exception of the dishes part. Any science experiments in that pile? LOL

  10. Fun list - taking time for yourself always makes a better perspective.

  11. #3 - did you actually count???
I would do that. I lost my library privileges for the moment - they say we lost a book, as we are in the midst of a move if it is here we will find it, if not I will buy the new book and get my library card reinstated…I cannot live without my library access for long.

  12. Wow, you actually found that NJ link, impressive!!

  13. Happy spring break to you!! I wore size 10 jeans once, for about a month, I think. It was nice. Congratulations on the new size!! That’s AWESOME :)

Funny, I just read the Kite Runner on Sunday. What did you think?? It’s sort of stayed with me all week…

  14. Wow, what a fun list…well exceot for #12!

    Happy TT!

  15. what a wonderul list. Good for you!!

  16. It sounds like you had a good weekend. I loved 27 Dresses too– gooood movie! Happy TT :)

  17. My daughter (who works at Borders) recently bought the Kite Runner because so many of her customers raved about it. Your post affirms that I SHOULD READ IT!!!

Oh, and you’re not the only person I’ve heard who said Jumper was “meh,” but Hayden was eye candy. :)

  18. BD’s is/was my hubby’s absolute favorite restaurant on this earth!!! Since we left Michigan three years ago he hasn’t had any and he mentions it from time to time. I told him when/if gas goes back below $2 a gallon we’ll drive up there for lunch.

Ugggghhhh…. this is making me hungry. I’m going to bed now!
