Um, help?
Alright, Inter-folks. I need help.
Do you have a morning routine for your kids? What is it? How many kids do you have? How old are they? What time do you need to be out the door? Does the routine help? Or do you still feel like you want to pull your hair out everyday?
Not that it’s like that here or anything. Pure bliss every morning is what I feel.
Pure.
Bliss.

Morning is a nightmare on school days because, even though we have some sort of a routine, Noah takes SOOOOOOO long to do anything in the morning that we are always late and I am always yelling at him. It is pretty much a stress every morning. I have tried rewards and punishments and have not found anything that works yet.
What works for us is having a routine, just like at bedtime. Well, with different things, of course. The girls know that they get out of bed and get dressed before they can eat breakfast (we had to initiate that rule because they were lingering so long over breakfast that we were way too rushed getting them dressed afterward). Then they know they can watch tv until I do their hair and it’s time to go. We have our moments, but in general mornings go pretty smoothly nowadays because we’ve been doing this the same way for so long now.
I have 3 kids - ages 7 (next week), 5 and 2. We get up between 6:30 and 6:45 am and the older two need to be out the door to the bus stop at about 7:50. The youngest and I leave for daycare right afterwards - I get to work around 8:15 am.
Uh…..homeschooling. No need for strict routines. Sorry, I’m no help.
(I’m usually still in bed when Deb-Mom of 3 girls) finally makes it to work.)
Homeschooling means no required routine and thus less stress. Sorry no help.
We homeschool, but we do have a strict routine because I am gone at least 3 mornings a week taking dh to appointments.
Six kids- ages 13, 11, 7, 6, 4, 2
Get up in the morning (we don’t really have a set time, just a set routine)
I am usually dressed and making breakfast when they get up. They all come down for breakfast, the 13 and 11 yo take turns getting showers.
13 yo gets the 2 and 4 yo dressed after breakfast,
6 & 7 yo collect laundry and do other misc chores
11 yo helps with breakfast clean up,
they all go up and brush their teeth and are usually ready to start school by 8:30.
[...] started off normal enough when I got up. I showered. I handled the roadblocks of our new morning routine like a seasoned pro (more on that to come). I gathered my stuff (which I had set out last night), [...]
